TAV-TAV: RESEARCH ON VARIABLE-GAUGE TECHNOLOGIES FOR SAFE AND RELIABLE HIGH-SPEED RAIL
Year: 2026
Participating companies: CAF SA, CAF POWER, CAF SIGNALLING

The overall objective is to conduct research on critical components of high-speed trains (300 km/h) that enable interoperability with all existing railway infrastructure (variable-gauge technologies) and guarantee 100% functionality, safety, and reliability. The aim is to significantly strengthen the technological sovereignty of the high-speed rail sector through a strategic, driving, and highly transformative project: TAVTAV.

The project, carried out within FEDER (“a way to build Europe”), has received funding from the European Union through the NextGenerationEU Funds and is subsidized by the Basque Government, specifically the Department of Industry, Energy Transition, and Sustainability, as part of the HAZITEK call.
