SUMMARY AND OBJECTIVE

The TRENERGY project is funded by the CDTI, with the support of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

The aim of the project is to research advanced technologies for the autonomous operation of railway vehicles, focusing efforts on the study and validation of key functionalities in controlled depot environments.

The scientific and technological contribution of the TRENERGY project will focus on research and the advancement of knowledge regarding key technologies for autonomous driving in the rail sector, adopting a systematic, modular and safe approach geared towards their validation in non-operational physical environments. Thus, TRENERGY takes an integrated and applied approach to advanced research areas such as intelligent multisensory perception, the fusion of positioning technologies (GNSS, UWB, inertial and infrastructure-based), innovative techniques for autonomous decision-making in complex environments, predictive energy management, and the development of V2X communication systems adapted to the railway environment. As a result, experimental validation will be achieved for a set of advanced technologies for the autonomous driving of railway vehicles, integrated into a functional system that will operate in controlled environments such as depots. Specifically, prototypes will be produced that incorporate capabilities for intelligent environmental perception, high-precision autonomous positioning, decision-making, optimised energy management and V2X communication adapted to the railway environment.
